It is important we educate our students in the process of language development not only to justify our methods, but also so that the students can become life-long acquirers!

This is a model of the “givens” of the language development process, those factors and steps that are well-established by the contemporary field of second language acquisition. This is what is NECESSARY and SUFFICIENT for language development to occur. We can say that acquisition is input-dependent and comprehension-dependent, while developing proficiency is communication-dependent.
